The largest Dalí collection outside Spain, in a hurricane-proof concrete box with a 75-foot glass bubble growing out of it.
An Ohio industrialist and his wife bought Dalí paintings for forty years, then went looking for a state that would house them. St. Petersburg's newspaper ran the headline; local businesspeople raised the money in a weekend. The building holds eighteen-inch concrete walls against storms and a free-form geodesic glass 'enigma' spilling out of the side. The helical staircase inside is a Fibonacci sequence. Dalí would have approved of all of it.
