Sixty polydactyl cats with presidential names, legally protected as an exhibit by federal court.

Hemingway was given a six-toed ship's cat, and the trait ran. The house museum keeps around sixty descendants, all named after famous people, all fed on a schedule, several asleep on the furniture Hemingway wrote on. The USDA argued the cats constituted a regulated animal exhibition; the museum fought it to the Eleventh Circuit and lost. The cats now live in a federally acknowledged animal exhibit and remain entirely unbothered.
