WHAT IT IS

An unincorporated community named after the two eggs local children traded for candy at the general store.

The usual account holds that during the Depression two boys were regularly sent to the store to swap eggs for sugar, and travelling salesmen started calling it the two-egg store. The name stuck to the crossroads. There is not much left except the name, a handful of houses, and a sign that gets stolen often enough that the county keeps spares. Local lore also claims a small bipedal creature in the nearby woods.
